Choosing music as our niche
First step in making a Tik Tok is to pick your niche. There are so many different types of videos so I am going to list a few: “get ready with me” “come with me to” “what I eat in a day” “family vlogging” “relationship advice” “breaking news” “de-influcing videos” “hauls” “couple content” just to name a few. Tik Tok is a social media app where people usually post lighthearted funny content, skits or educational videos. For my Tik Tok I decided to do an educational video on music and how I usually edit my music content for TikTok. The very first step that I recommend is going through your music catalog and picking specific songs you want to mention ( and also play in the background). Once you pick the songs you can go one of two ways. Either talk mainly about the artist or pick just one song and talk about the meaning of the song and you’ll have to convince the audience why you chose this song and why they should listen to it.
There are many ways to find music. I've gotten my music from TV shows, movie end credits, youtube, people's instragram's and even on TikTok itself. A simple tip I recommend, is to make a playlist on whatver streaming platform you have that only has artists or songs you know that you will discuss in your playlist. Then, I go through the artist's bio on the streaming platform. For spotify it is all the way at the bottom and this where the research comes in handy. Since the TikTok niche we are doing is music, it is very important to get the right information from the internet. Smaller artists will foten hve descriptions of what each song means on their website. Most artist's however do not have this. So looking at interviews from big magazines are your best friend. Once you've goathered the meaning of the song and researched the artist then you cna begin seting up and filiming.
A great tip to know is that finding the music is actually the hardest part of making music TikTok videos. Everything else, setting up filiming and editing and posting is super easy once you get used to making TikToks. You will be on your way to becoming a TikTok star. Just remeber to categorize your music choices, it is easier to niche down on a specific genre like Indie or Afrobeats. If you do not want to niche down for a specific genre, that is also perfectly fine. Something you can do is have series on your page. For my TikTok I used to do a series for just strictly women artists since one of my followers suggested female artists and I realized that my playlist was mostly men. Fun fact, starting that series titled "women artists you should know" is what helped me blow up and get to 15k On my TikTok page before I deleted it to start all over. I recommend if you dont want to niche down to one specifc genre of music, to categorize or do series for your videos because it can help a variety of niches enjoy all of your content
The data bar chart explores a breakdown of different types of niches. But instead of showing the most popular niche it shows how times a niche popped up on 200 peoples' for you page. The for you page on TikTok is where you see so many different videos that anyone across the globe has posted, including sometimes the people you follow.
